We are in our last full month of summer and it’s time to start thinking about prepping our gardens for fall! There are still some fast-growing varieties you have time to plant to harvest in time for fall, otherwise it’s time to start planning for more cold-loving plants! You may have read my post about what to plant in your garden in July, so if you’re wondering now which herbs and veggies to plant outdoors in August, here’s a brief guide:
Fast-growing plants.
These plants like their warm weather but grow quickly enough to be ready to harvest by the time that fall rolls around:
-
Lettuce(depending on the variety)
-
Cucumbers
-
As mentioned in my previous blog, you can plant various other herb varieties like oregano and thyme into planters outdoors that you move indoors once the weather starts to get colder.
Prepping for fall
These varieties do better in colder weather. It may still be too warm for some of these varieties in your area, so try to keep them in cooler and shadier spots in your garden.
Hope this overview was helpful and best of luck with your garden!
